Drove up to Estes Park today. The drive through Boulder was beautiful. Walked through town and did a little geocaching. Then had a late breakfast/early lunch at Molly B’s - yummy!
Then we drove up to 12,000 ft on the Trail Ridge Road. Boy, was that something to see. So beautiful and incredibly scary and humbling at the same time. We saw snow (in JULY), marmot, pikas, and an elk. We drank hot chocolate at 11,796 ft elevation - Yum.
We made it over the ridge to our campsite at Green Ridge, where we met Zac and Kaia. We set up camp, ate hot dogs, beans, and potato salad for dinner. And of course, s'mores. It did get cold (40s) overnight, but we were snuggled up and warm in our sleeping bags.
